Bou Melhem Restaurant | Review

BouMelhemRestaurant2

We’ve already heard of it through word to mouth and social media, but didn’t really get the chance to visit Bou Melhem Restaurant in Sin El Fil until last Friday. As soon as we walked in, the friendly staff welcomed us and guided us to a nice table close to the bar. We then had the honor to meet with the owner himself, warmly welcoming us and wishing us a beautiful night ahead.

Bou Melhem counts an indoor setting and a terrace, and organized a special ‘One Man Show” event on Fridays so we were kindly warned about the high music and waiters suggested we move our table to the terrace in case we were disturbed.

BouMelhemRestaurant1

We didn’t really have to order, the restaurant specialties were served throughout the night from the appetizers to the salads and main dish, all the way to cocktails and desserts.

Here’s an overview of what we tasted along with our feedback:

BouMelhemRestaurant11

Tabbouleh & Fattouch: Although the tabbouleh really needed a lighter hand on the salt, it was very tasty and fresh; yet the fattouch came from another dimension: The perfection of the flavors and the impeccable balance left us speechless!

Eggplant Salad (Batenjen el Raheb): While I didn’t taste this dish because I’m not really fan of eggplants, my partners did express enjoyment in it but only as average; they didn’t think there was anything special about it except the colors and presentation.

BouMelhemRestaurant8

Raw Kibbeh & Tebleh: They come from the same background, but Kibbe includes an additional ingredient that’s Burghul (crushed wheat): They both tasted amazing and as fresh as they looked.

Roasted Hummus, Crispy Shankleesh & Mouhammara: These dishes are among Bou Melhem restaurant’s mezze specialties. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT visit Bou Melhem and leave without trying them!

Pesto Chicken: I would definitely have added a little more salt, but they tasted amazing and although the dish was overwhelmed with pesto, it didn’t cover up the chicken taste that both my partner & I love.

BouMelhemRestaurant12

Lahmeh Ras Asfour: It’s basically a dish that consists in small beef cutlets marinated in Pomegranate Molasse: Absolutely heavenly to taste buds and that comes from my best friend who rarely eats meat!

BouMelhemRestaurant14

Halloumi & Figs: This dish is definitely recommended to you if you’re a fan of sweet and salty.

BouMelhemRestaurant15

Mixed Grill: Generous portions and buttery taste. I honestly cannot think of a word to describe how moist and tender the Kafta, Meat, and Taouk tasted; definitely a must try whenever you visit!

BouMelhemRestaurant19

Although we were too full to even consider dessert, we were presented a selection of fresh season fruits and Lebanese puddings (Mehallabiye & Meghli); we also couldn’t leave without experiencing Bou Melhem’s special Frappé drinks (Caramel, Mocha & Lemonade) and Sharab El Wared which marked a special place in our hearts.

Of course the concept was not only about experiencing the food, we were also treated to the ‘One Man Show’ and had a blast dancing to the oriental tunes and then after midnight, the whole restaurant lights were dimmed and we got to enjoy some occidental music until early hours.

Overall, Bou Melhem Restaurant was a one of a kind experience that we cannot wait to re-live!

Bay Lodge Boutique Hotel | The Terrace Restaurant Bar Lounge

Located in Bay Lodge Boutique Hotel, The Terrace Restaurant – Bar Lounge is labelled as a hidden haven in the heart of Harissa. Overlooking a magical view of Jounieh Bay, this unique concept takes one’s breath away with two levels, both patronymically overlooking the Mediterranean.

BayLodge1

We decided as a team to break out of our routine and give a try to this exceptional outlet at one of the most prestigious Boutique Hotels in Lebanon!

Our whole experience started at Sunset and ended under the stars.

Atmosphere/Décor
As you enter the place, you’re welcomed by a magnificent yet simple blue and wooden setting that makes you feel like you’re about to dine in your own terrace! Tables and chairs are carefully picked to fit the atmosphere and you’ll spend the day/evening surrounded by cool, relaxing lounge music that’s loud enough to hear, but not loud enough to keep you from hearing each other. A friendly hostess and the restaurant manager approach you to greet you at The Terrace. Sitting in any table you have a wonderful view of the dazzling Jounieh Bay.

Menu/Dishes
The menu has a wide variety of mouth-watering starters and tidbits. We ordered Edamame and the Bay Lodge Sampler that includes a variety of Rosemary Potato Wedges, Chicken Tacos, Spring Rolls, Cheese Rolls and Crab Claws, served with Soy Sauce, Pesto Sauce and Tartare. Both dishes were exquisite.
We had two main courses, the King Prawns & the Mixed Grill. King Prawns were as buttery and soft as they come, they were served with steamed rice and Thai Curry Sauce; absolutely to die for! The mixed grill tasted wonderfully as well and every bite brought us on a journey of softness and juices which in my opinion felt like heaven.

Ingredients/Drinks/Wine
All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of home-made food. The chef takes great care in selecting the best quality ingredients.
Before we dined, we ordered whisky, honey jack and coco breeze as drinks. Coco Breeze and Honey Jack are definitely recommended especially if you manage to visit during sunset like we did.
We ended our evening with a glass of fine selected blue wine and wandered a little between the restaurant and the floating bar situated on the lower level of The Terrace.

Service/Waiters
The Terrace is not a place where you can drop by, eat and leave. The Terrace is a wholesome experience that needs to be embraced! Waiters gave us the time we need before taking our orders and frequently visited our table to make sure everything was okay then we were visited by the restaurant manager asking us if everything is going well and if we needed anything. All dishes arrived at the same time, service was as quick as it could be viewing the full house.

Recommendations
Following the fair price of the food and the attentive waiters´ service, we had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason we highly recommend going to The Terrace Restaurant – Bar Lounge

CHEERS!

Burgers you must try at least once!

#Burgers are not hard to find. In fact, it’s so damn rare to pass by a town and not notice at least ONE burger joint. However, it isn’t so simple to find a place that serves decent and high quality burgers because the standard my darlings, is not about WHERE you eat a burger, but HOW YOU FEEL while, and after you eat it.

I visited Burger joints around Lebanon and decided to briefly share with you some of my favorites so far.

Mexican Burger at Gourma Lebanon.

Gourma Mexican Burger.JPG

This cozy joint is a family owned restaurant located in Tabarja. They serve a large variety of house made sandwiches, Indian platters, salads, and burgers. Among their tasty menu I tried the Mexican burger which is a combination of a 130g of  Mexican beef patty, guacamole, onions, tomato, jalapenos, tortilla chips and their special mild Mexican sauce. Served with a side of coleslaw and crunchy fries, this platter is definitely Lunch/Dinner goals when you feel like a quick bite on your way from the beach this summer 😉

Classic Burger at Crepaway

Crepaway still leads when it comes to service, speed and quality especially when it comes to kickass burgers. I always visit the branch in Citymall Beirut, and my all time weakness has to be the classic, a mix of Black angus beef with cheddar cheese, lettuce, grilled onions, ketchup, mayo and dijonnaise sauce. Despite the simplicity of its ingredients, Crepaway’s classic burger explodes in flavors! Highly recommended and reachable no matter where you live in Lebanon!

Classic cheese Burger at Classic Burger

Cozy and calm, Classic Burger Joint outlets are the perfect for a casual date, a get-together after uni or a quick bite while shopping. I tried both Beirut Souks and Le Mall outlets and let me tell you, one can’t go wrong with any of the burgers at Classic Burger Joint, but my choice for the best would be the Classic cheese Burger. It’s not just the classic sauce and fresh beef patty that makes it, it’s the double american cheese and those homemade pickles with the classic coleslaw salad!

Now whomever knows me acknowledges that burgers are by far my weakness & would even go as far as to say that I’m addicted; I just constantly crave patties between buns several times a day is that a crime?

Al Saniour Sea View | Birthday Review

It took a while, but I think I’ve found the perfect destination for an affordable yet super fun birthday! Let me wrap up a little bit. My Boyfriend and Best Friends decided to celebrate my birthday so they reserved a table at Al Saniour Sea View.

It was my second time visiting this restaurant, and I almost forgot about my first experience so I didn’t exactly know what to expect. The place was crowded, but we didn’t feel trapped at all because tables were smartly set apart.

While my friends ordered the Greek Salad, the Crab Salad, A Poulet Kiev and a Sushi boat.

Greek Salad

My boyfriend ordered a Taouk pizza, I (who’s supposed to be on a diet) snuck out a slice of pizza from his plate and indulged in a delicious marinated Salmon salad from their O&C sushi menu and I can tell you I have never been so full after a salad and only ONE slice of pizza! 😉

Everything on the table came super fresh and tasty, although I recommend a lighter hand on the pizza dressing.

Service was amazing as the helpful staff never missed a chance to visit our table to check that everything was going well but I wish my plate arrived along with the rest of the dishes lol it took time to marinate the salmon maybe.

Marinated Salmon: Strongly Recommended!

Last but not least, Al Saniour Sea View is highly recommended for families and friends who wish to celebrate good vibes and good times. Will be visiting again soon! 💚

PS: I loved the fact that every time it’s someone’s birthday, everyone stops what they’re doing and sings-claps with the Birthday Girl/Boy 😀

Knefeh: Lebanon’s Favorite Breakfast!

Popular in Lebanon and around the Middle East, Knefeh is a much-loved syrup-soaked cheese dessert mostly enjoyed for breakfast with Ater which is Arabic for Sugar Syrup! 🙂 Now since in Lebanon we enjoy this privilege in almost every bakeshop and gourmet, I decided to share with you a simple recipe to create this little wonder and host a sweet  party in your taste-buds!

Serves

20 Pers

Preparation

   30 Min

Cooking

60 Min

Chilling

Overnight

Ingredients:

Knefeh:

160 G Unsalted & Melted Butter

440 G Corn Flakes, finely Crushed (Easier than the kataifi pastry but you can use it as well)

41/2 Cups Milk

110 G Caster Sugar

90 G Fine Semolina

600 ML Thickened Cream

1 TBSP Corn Flour

1 TBSP Rose Water

500 G Sweetened Akkawi Cheese (You should soak it in water overnight a day before because it’s super salty but believe me it’s worth it ;))

Ater:

440 G Caster Sugar

1/2 TBSP Lemon Juice

1/2 TBSP Rose Water

Step By Step:

  • Mix Corn Flakes and Melted Butter in a bowl to combine and completely coat the cereals then pour half of the mixture in your 24 cm x 34 cm x 4 cm tray. Keep it refrigerated until needed.

  • Dissolve Cornflour in 1 TBSP of warm water then add it to a large saucepan containing milk, sugar, semolina and cream; place mixture over medium-low heat and cook, stirring constantly, for 12 minutes or until very thick.  after that, remove from heat and stir with Rose Water, then allow the mixture to cool a bit.

  • Now the Fun Part! Preheat your oven to 180ºC  & spoon half of the semolina mixture over Corn Flake base, then scatter over Akkawi cheese. Cover with the rest of the semolina mixture, then scatter over remaining Corn Flake mixture.

  • Bake for 25 minutes or until the edges start to bubble, then remove from the oven and allow it to cool completely before refrigerating it overnight.

  • Ater or Sugar Syrup is pretty easy to make! Place the Sugar with 1 cup of water water (250 ML) over medium heat and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, It should be ready after 8 minutes of stirring or when you feel like the mixture has thickened; Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.

  • TIME TO EAT 😀 Preheat your oven to 200ºC and bake Knefeh for 10 minutes or until Cheese just starts to ooze from the sides. Drizzle with Syrup and cut into portions then decorate with pistachios. Serve Immediately!

There you have it loves ❤ The Perfect and easiest Knefeh Recipe there is! Don’t forget to share it with your friends and send me your feedback! Until Next Time 😉

Four Seasons Hotel Beirut| Sunday Lunch

With over 105 hotels in 43 different countries, the Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts is definitely striking in the business since 1960. With a focus on Luxury and a dedication to serve perfection, their highly personalized customer service is much admired and not so easy replicated! The sumptuous décor and the food styling sophistication never failed to amaze me, leading me to fairly admit that their chain is one of my favorites in the world.

My adventure with Four Seasons was far from expected.

On a Saturday morning, I received a message from one of their respected branches in Lebanon asking me if I would like to join them and get to experience their weekly Sunday Lunch.

As soon as we stepped out of the car, we were treated like royalties.

The nicest executives welcomed us, then we got the opportunity to walk-in their executive kitchen where the buffet was held, because they believe that a successful hotel has nothing to hide and no secrets inside its kitchen.

After helping ourselves to a magnificent buffet which happens every Sunday at their restaurant, The Grill Lounge, we came back to our seats and believe me, every bite took our taste buds to another dimension of flavors.

From the steak and vegetable to the sushi and the finest Gavi and Ixir wine, we instantly felt the freshness in every single bite ❤.
So whether you live in Lebanon or abroad, the Four Seasons chain is an absolutely must-visit destination if you are looking to spend lunch with your family or if you’re looking to impress a certain sweetheart 😉

Check out the gallery and follow us on a trip inside Four Seasons Beirut!

Until Next time! 😉
